Provide experience & support job searches

Young people who experience just four or more memorable interactions with an employer are five times less likely to become NEET than those who don't.

Work experience is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young people about the world of work but quite often work experience placements don't reflect what real roles involve on a day to day basis. To address this, we’ve designed an easy-to-follow flexible toolkit that can help small employers through to a large multi-national company to transform placements into something inspirational.

How businesses can benefit:

In return for offering young people work experience and other experiences of the workplace, employers can equip young people with exactly the sort of skills and exposure to a company environment that would make them perfect, motivated candidates for a company’s entry level roles.

It also helps businesses to widen awareness of and create positive associations with their brand, develop innovation and think differently about their organisation and their products and service

Key things to consider:

  • Which teams and individuals would be best placed to deliver activities in your company?
  • Can you establish a partnership with a local school to create an on-going work experience programme?
  • What kind of real day to day tasks would young people find exciting and offer them the chance to gain a new skill?
Are you doing this?
